The 2012 Curtin budget has provided for the creation of up to 20 high value international scholarships called Curtin Strategic International Research Scholarships (CSIRS). These scholarships are to support students in their doctoral studies for 3 years duration with possible extension for a further 6 months. The CSIRS are prestigious scholarships aimed at attracting high quality international applicants in areas of Curtin's research strengths. The scholarships will provide students with a living allowance of $25 000 per annum funded by ORD and recipients will be nominated for a CIPRS by their enrolling area.
A limited number of key researchers have been nominated by Faculty Deans of Research, and you are one of the 30 researchers at Curtin who have been identified as targets for the CSIRS. As a result please find the following documents attached:
· Guidelines for CSIRS Applicants
· Recommendation for CSIRS (completed by Researcher and Head of Enrolling Area)
· Curtin International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (CIPRS) Nomination Form for CSIRS
You are requested to use your existing networks to identify no more than TWO highly qualified potential candidates. Please send a copy of the Guidelines for CSIRS Applicants to each potential student and request they read them carefully before submitting an Application for Admission to a Higher Degree by Research, available from http://www.curtin.edu.au/research/futurestudents/admission.cfm. As a potential supervisor you will also be required to submit the CIPRS Nomination Form for CSIRS with CSIRS shown as the source of the stipend.
The CSIRS are high value targeted scholarships and applicants should be sourced via the established networks of the identified Curtin researchers. It is expected that you may already be in contact with potential applicants. All applications and Recommendation for CSIRS forms must be received by the Manager, Scholarships, Office of Research and Development, by Friday, 25 May 2012.
