The Research Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence Economics (formerly Zhejiang University Digital Economy Laboratory) is established under the School of Economics, Zhejiang University. Led by Professor Miao Jianjun, Dean of the School of Economics, the laboratory brings together top research talents from the school and worldwide, aiming to build a leading domestic and internationally renowned interdisciplinary research platform for artificial intelligence and economics.

Responding to the national AI development strategy and frontier demands of economic transformation, the laboratory focuses on the systematic impacts of artificial intelligence on economic operation mechanisms, policy governance models and social structural transformation. It commits to constructing a trinity research system of theoretical innovation, technological integration and policy application.

Its key research directions include: AI-based macro and microeconomics, AI-enabled industrial organization and labor markets, algorithmic economics, platform governance, intelligent finance, and intelligent regulation.
